The Queer Utrecht Stories exhibition – which was on display in Utrecht City Hall in October – is now online on our site.
The expo brings Utrecht’s queer history to life with a colourful collection of stories. You’ll delve into the world of 18th-century molly houses, encounter places where men secretly met, and discover the role of influential 20th-century queer organisations, such as the COC, youth organisation PANN and the feminist bookstore De Heksenketel. The historical stories are interspersed with inspiring portraits of both iconic and lesser-known Utrecht residents, including transgender activist Dirkje Kuik, comedian Wim Sonneveld and versatile artist Claudia de Breij.
